June 2001 NBC Passions Online interview – “Two of a Kind”

If you think Julian Crane is funny, you haven't met Ben Masters! In fact, sometimes it's hard to figure out where Julian ends and Ben begins. But we thought we'd give you a hand as both Ben and Julian take on the same ten questions!

1. What are your best and worst qualities?
BEN: I think my best quality is love of animals--not necessarily people--and my caring about animals like dogs, cats, and horses. My worst quality is being distrustful.
JULIAN: My best qualities are intelligence, wit, and good looks. My worst qualities are needless compassion, morality, and truthfulness.

2. If you had one wish what would it be?
BEN: And it would really work? I wish there wouldn't be so many starving children in the world.
JULIAN: For Alistair to drop dead.

3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
BEN: That I wouldn't obsess so much on trivia.
JULIAN: Different hair dye.

4. What are you most proud of in your life?
BEN: That I've been able to support myself as an actor.
JULIAN: My tennis game.

5. What three things would you bring to a deserted island?
BEN: In limitless amounts? Water, food, and wine.
JULIAN: Gwen's sorority sisters, the Chivas distillery, and a steamer trunk full of sexual enhancements.

6. What one time in your life would you want to relive?
BEN: Being directed in a movie by Paul Newman
JULIAN: The days long gone at the Blue Note listening to the lovely Dr. Eve Russell sing.

7. What's your biggest regret?
BEN: That I didn't find the fountain of youth.
JULIAN: I don't have any.

8. What's something people would be surprised to know about you?
BEN: That I really love Galen Gering.
JULIAN: That I donate to "Save the Children."

9. What do you like to do in your spare time?
BEN: Drive one of my cars.
JULIAN: I have an occasional cocktail and listen to old jazz tapes.

10. Where do you see yourself in ten years?
BEN: Stuck in traffic on the 5 freeway in Los Angeles.
JULIAN: The sole head of Crane Industries, since Father has already met his maker and is rotting in hell. And finally rid of that two-faced witch, Ivy.
